just remember
doom worked fine and every enemy in that game was a state machine that just chose the closest direction and walked forwards
okay fine it's a bit more complicated but that's kinda mostly it iirc?
actually now i think about it wasn't litterally every enemy in goldeneye 64 just a big list of triggers that wasn't dynamic in any way
