jump to expanded postyou ever consider that balatro is a long distance relative of the autobattler genre?
it has currency and interest, a shop where you can buy items that do things and a very limited amount of space to store said items that do things, and the items care about positioning and have specific triggers. it just had other things past that that end up making the game engaging.
like yes you play a hand but everything past that your watching your items activate and giving you points, it's automatic.
