okay so i opened zed again after someone mentioned it and it turns out you CAN disable the assistant stuff
you just have to edit your config file, because it's on by default, and there's no UI for the config
but once you do almost all the actions and buttons disappear, though some commands for co-pilot still appear...
grrr
still, editor seems neat, probably not the worst choice if vsc goes horridly downhill soon
