jump to expanded postwhy didn't there a program or cli tool for splitting an image into it's channels and combining multiple images into one
or like just performing basic operations like swapping or inverting channels
this is coming from someone who occasionally dabbles in modelling and shaders since i think they're neat but there's no good way of merging or separating channels without like, loading up gimp
@callmore does imagemagick not do this? I thought it did o.o
If doing this for Unity, I know Thry's texture packer can at least combine, dunno about split.
@KayOhtie I'll be honest i haven't messed about with imagemagick enough to uh
know
i haven't seen it be suggested anywhere for the goal, people just say use gimp or something...
I'll have to look it up
@callmore a lot of times is hard to find that sort of thing easily since it's more of like component features in CLI.
@KayOhtie yeah I'm taking a quick read over some information and... yeah, it's what ive been looking for
darn
why isn't this information more known
@callmore I think because it's component tools. Imagemagick is kind of a Swiss army knife of image tools, but most people don't know besides the knife or corkscrew or magnifying glass
